You're engaged, and are working through planning your big wedding day. You may have figured out your venue, you have the reception set up, you've found your photographer... Now! Entertainment! You and your fiancé have decided that you're going to go with the services of a Raleigh DJ, and you're wondering just what you should be looking for in a DJ service...
Well, you've happened upon the perfect page! In the battlefield that is Raleigh wedding vendors, competition is stiff and there's a lot of different choices out there for you to choose from. Probably a bit overwhelming, when you get down to it. However, with a bit of direction, you can narrow down your search and make an informed decision on who to choose for your wedding DJ.
Firstly, when you go into your DJ search, one thing to consider is whether or not this is their full-time gig. If you're dealing with a part timer, you will definitely want to ensure that they have the know-how and equipment to handle the size of your reception hall. This may seem obvious, but whether they are full time or part time, you're going to want to find out if they are experienced and have the ability to think on their feet. A DJ who does a good amount of weddings, but also handles other events may be your best choice as they're both experienced and are accustomed to playing to different clientele and events. This isn't to take away anything from the full time wedding DJ's, but our experience has shown that the more well rounded experience can pay off if something goes awry.
Once you're settled on some candidates, here's some things you're going to want to find out: Firstly, the play-list. How much say will you have regarding what's being played? It is, after all, your wedding and you're going to want your favorite songs included, and your less than favorite songs excluded.
Secondly, and no less important is finding out about their style. Are they more hyped up? Are they really relaxed? How personable are they? These questions are really important, and will go a long way in letting you know just how they keep your guests engaged throughout the evening.
Thirdly, you want to know how well they work. Ask if they have mixing samples. This is a good way to gauge how they handle the flow of music in between songs. Find out too, how knowledgeable they are at choosing appropriate volume levels which give a balance of “party” and still allowing your guests to be able to talk amongst themselves without yelling.
This may not be important to you, but you might want to find out what other affects they can bring to the table. Do they offer a light show? Do they perhaps have HD video screens for imagery. If they do, be sure to ask (if they don't tell you) how much extra this will cost you.
There are other things you may consider, but this should give you a solid guideline in choosing the right DJ in Raleigh for your big wedding day! Don't forget to check out or affiliates if you need a Wedding DJ in Michigan
